This a very special grouping and probably one of the last improvisational sessions I recorded in 2012 at 1510 8th St. which is sadly no more, another victim of ever encroaching gentrification.

A whole chapter or even several chapters could be written about 1510 as a useful venue and locus of creative and improvised music in the Oakland experimental music scene. I was incredibly fortunate to play with, host, and record world class musicians and improvisers, locally and globally, for roughly a decade at this venue in West Oakland, and many of the recordings here have been released on various labels, but many more are still waiting to be brought to light.

For me, this trio recording was one of the most lyrical and focused sessions I've done, for being basically pure improv with only very simple structures added at times. Over the years the music has withstood repeated listenings and to me still remains fresh and vital. It was a pure joy to play with these master musicians and I believe the results speak for themselves.
